Train information
The national railway company is TRAINOSE: www.trainose.com
Train types: InterCity (IC, ICE), reservations required; national trains include Expres (E, interregionaltrains), Treno (slower interregional trains) and Proastikos (commuter trains), reservations are not required.
Bikes are allowed on certain trains in the baggage car. Please check locally if a ticket is needed. There is no additional cost to take a bike on the ferries of Minoan and Attika. Useful words: σταθμός (station), γραφείο εισιτηρίων (ticket office), θυρίδα αποσκευών (luggage locker), εισιτήριο (ticket).
Ferries, ships, buses… everything but train
The ferry companies Attica Group (Superfast Ferries & Blue Star Ferries) and Minoan are the two companies that are participating in the InterRail Pass. For details see the InterRail Traveller’s Guide.

Long-distance bus services are managed by KTEL (Koino Tamio Eispraxeon

Between Patra port and Kiato: bus services are managed by TRAINOSE
Between Kiato and Athens: you can use the high speed line train of TRAINOSE,
proastiakos.
Between Patra port and Athens or Piraeus port: a direct bus service is managed by
Superfast Ferries, a member of Attica Group.\
Food and drink
Eat Spanakopita (a spinach and feta cheese pie made of filo pastry); Tzaziki (a
cucumber, garlic and Greek yoghurt sauce, delicious with fresh bread); Gyros (sliced
grilled meat, served with salad and pita bread); Moussaka (baked layers of aubergine
and meat) and the famous Greek salad (tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, cubed feta
cheese, and seasoned olives).
