Train information
The national railway company is Căile Ferate Romane (CFR): www.cfr.ro
Trains types: Personal (P), reservations are not required. Special (S), Rapid (R),
Accelerat (A), IC and international trains require reservations.
Bikes are only allowed on domestic trains that have special storage facilities and
upon advance purchase of a special bike ticket.
Ferries, ships, buses… everything but train

Food and drink
Eat Mititei (grilled minced-meat rolls); Muschi Poiana (beef stuffed with mushroom
and bacon) or Saramura, (grilled carp steak). Soups are also popular: good examples
are Ciorbă de Burtă (tripe) and Ciorbă de Perişoare (meatball). Do not miss the popular Sarmale (tasty stuffed cabbage rolls).
Accommodation
As a general rule private rooms are the best choice, but there are numerous hostels
with good service.
