Train information

The national railway company is Železnice Srbije (ŽS): www.serbianrailways.com
Trains types: passenger, express and intercity, reservations are not required for domestic trains, reservations are recommended for international trains.
Bikes are not allowed, except when dismantled and carried as hand luggage.

Ferries, ships, buses… everything but train

Food and drink

Eat the typical dishes involving grilled meat: Pljeskavica (local hamburger); and Ćevapčići (meat sticks). Also try: Proja (corn-bread); Sarma (cabbage stuffed with minced beef and pork with rice); Podvarak (meat in sauerkraut); Musaka (aubergine with minced meat and eggs) and Gibanica (baked pastry made with white cheese).
Drink local spirits like Šljivovica (plum brandy) or Lozovača (grape brandy).

Accommodation

Hotels can be very expensive; private rooms are usually the best choice.
