Sleepers
Sleepers are the ideal way to travel on night trains. There are several types of accommodation. For comfort and privacy, reserve a 1st class (one or two passengers) sleeper. This type of compartment has a wash basin inside the cabin. Toilet facilities can be found down the corridor. On selected trains there are 1st class sleepers with toilet and shower inside the cabin. With a 2nd class Pass, sleepers are available for two, three or four passengers. All these compartments are single-sex except when couples or families occupy all berths.

Couchettes
Couchettes are mixed, men and women are booked into the same compartments, with four open bunks in 1st class and four or six open bunks in 2nd class. A sheet, blanket and pillow will be provided, the traveller must be prepared to sleep in his travel wear/clothing. Sleeperettes, reclining seats in 2nd class cars, are available on selected trains.

Seats
Most overnight trains carry sleepers and couchettes only. If carrying cars with seats, these will generally be 2nd class only.

Reservation Fees
The supplement for sleepers and couchettes is not included in the Eurail Pass.
