date in the Travel Calendar on the ticket before boarding, using a pen.

on the Eurail Pass cover for the trip to be valid.

The Eurail Pass must be activated within 6 months after the Pass is purchased, This can be done by the travel agent with which the Pass was purchased, but also at a ticket window in an European train station.
The activation consists in stamping the first and last allowed days of travel and filling the passport number in.
Travel with a Eurail Pass should never begin before the 1st day of validity (00.01 hours) and must be completed by midnight of the last day of validity of the Pass (24.00 hours).
Recording personal, ticket and journey details The Eurail Pass cover, besides protecting the Eurail ticket, includes the Travel Report form. It must be presented together with the ticket and your passport to the ticket inspector. The Flexi Pass entitles the traveler to a set number of travel days within a specific period of time. On any travel day, the Pass holder can hop on and off as many trains he/she likes. But before bording the first train of the day, it is extremely important that he/she writes the date in the Travel Calendar on the ticket. Not doing so is the same as traveling without a ticket, which means the traveller will have to pay a full-fare ticket and may also risk a fine.

The Travel Calendar has a day and month box for each of the travel day the pass holder is entitled to. On each day te Pass holder travels, the day and month must be entered in the proper boxes under ‘1’, for the first travel day, under ‘2’ for the second, etc. The date must written in blue or black ink. Also, don’t forget to fill out the journey details on your Travel Report before taking each train, ferry or bus on a travel day.
Entering an overnight journey in the Flexi Pass Calendar
Depending on the hour of departure of the train chosen, there is a special Eurail Pass offer that could save the traveler a travel day:
- If traveling on a direct night train (with no connections or layovers) that departs after 19.00h (7 pm) and arrives after 04.00h (4 am), the traveler only need to use one day – the day of arrival. For instance, if you take the direct night train from Prague to Vienna that departs on August 2nd at 21.53, you only have to write August 3rd in the calendar. Please note that for such an overnight trip, your Pass must be valid on the day of departure and arrival (see Conditions of Use, article 7)
- If the train departs before 19.00h (7 pm), the pass Holder needs to use two travel days (the day of departure in one set of boxes and the day of arrival in the next)
- When traveling by night ferry, the traveler only have to use one travel day. He/she may fill in either the day of departure or arrival on thetravel calendar.
Please note that for all overnights trips your Eurail Pass must be valid on the day of departure and arrival. (Conditions of Use, article 8).
Sending the Travel Report to Eurail Group
Once the Pass Holders have finished traveling, they may detach, fold, seal and mail the Travel Report to Eurail Group. No stamp is required and they have the option to receive their Travel report back. In return, Eurail group can send them a gift.
In addition to rail travel, Eurail Passes entitle the Pass holder to several benefits. including free or discounted transportation on certain shipping lines, buses and For some benefits, mainly international shipping lines, advance booking is possible. On the Eurail Pass Guide the traveler can find the necessary contact details for making reservations with the benefit partner concerned. Before booking or buying a ticket, it’s important to confirm that the company honors the discount.
