Countries and companies for which the Eurail Pass is valid

The Eurail Global Pass is valid for travel within the participating railway companies in the 23 countries listed on the Pass Cover (excluding Montenegro, Poland and Serbia). Eurail Select, Regional and One Country Passes are only valid for the country or countries which are printed on the ticket itself. The selected countries, pass type and the number of travel days cannot be changed after arrival in Europe.

Flexible or consecutive travel days

Eurail Global Passes are available in two types:

  • The “Continuous Pass which can be used as often as desired during the overall time period validity.
  • The ‘Flexi” Pass: can only be used for a specific numbers of travel days during the overall period of validity.
The other Eurail Passes that only cover specific geographical areas ( Eurail Select, Regional and One Country Passes) are all Flexi Passes.

Using the Eurail Flexi Pass

The Flexi Pass entitles the traveler to a select number of travel days within a specific period of time. On any travel day, the Pass holder can hop on and off as many trains he/she likes. But before boarding the first train of the day, it is extremely important that he/she writes the date in the Travel Calendar on the ticket. Not doing so is the same as traveling without a ticket, which means the traveler will have to pay a full-fare ticket and may also risk a fine.

The Travel Calendar has a day and month box for each of the travel day the pass holder is entitled to use. On each day te Pass holder travels, the day and month must be entered into the proper boxes printed on the travel calendar under ‘1’, for the first travel day, under ‘2’ for the second, etc. The date must written in blue or black ink. Also, it's important to fill out the journey details on the Travel Report before boarding each train, ferry or bus on a travel day.

Important: once entered, a travel day may not be corrected, as it can be considered as an attempt of fraud. If a mistake is made, the correct date must be entered in the next travel day box which means that you lose a non-refundable travel day.

Saver Passes

The Saver Pass consists of the actual ticket and a control voucher. The control voucher displays the names and passport numbers of all travelers and must be kept together with the ticket at all times. A Saver Pass can be issued for a maximum of 5 travelers per ticket. In case of a group of six travelers, two saver Passes may be issued for three travelers each.

Children under 4 years of age travel for free, unless a reservation for a separate seat/bed is required. Please note that Eurail One Country Passes may have different rules concerning child discounts.

Eurail Group recently introduced special rates for senior travelers choosing a Eurail One Country Pass. These special rates are not available for all One Country Passes, so please check to find out for which passes this discount is applicable.
